From December 6th to December 9th, invited by University Putra Malaysia (UPM), the vice President of FAFU Lin Wenxiong led a delegation of six persons from the Graduate School, Office of Educational Administration and College of Crop Science of FAFU to UPM for a official visit, and discussed on the projects of cooperation in the joint training of graduate students, breeding of kenaf and jute, and forest products processing, etc., and signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two universities.
On December 7th, the President of UPM Dr. Aini Ideris received the delegation of FAFU. He firstly expressed warm welcome to the visit of the delegation, and then held a cordial talk with them. During the meeting, the two sides held an in-depth discussion on the issues of common concern, such as the joint training of graduate students, scientific research cooperation, and teachers’ cultivation and so on, and reached a series of inter-collegiate cooperation intentions. At the end of the meeting, Lin Wenxiong, on behalf of FAFU, signed a memorandum of cooperation with UPM.
During the visit, the delegation held discussions, one after another, with the relevant leaders and representatives of the Institute of Tropical Forests and Forest Products, College of Forestry, and the Graduate School of UPM, and visited the Forest Products Processing Laboratory, Laboratory of Crop Breeding and Botany and the Kenaf Planting Base, respectively. On December 9th, Dr. Paridah MD Tahir, the Director of Institute of Tropical Forest and Forest Products, together with Mr. Samsudin B. HJ Noor, the Director of Malaysia National Kenaf and Tobacco Bureau, held an in-depth discussion with the delegation, and the two sides reached a cooperation intention on the aspect of breeding of kenaf and jute.
UPM is a top-ranked comprehensive public university of Malaysia which has more than 80 years of history. It ranks the 270th place in the QS world university rankings, 49th place in the Asian university rankings, top 100 among the global agricultural and forestry universities and colleges of the world, and 1st place in Malaysia. According to the memorandum of cooperation, the delegation of FAFU would further promote implementation of the projects of cooperation in the joint training of graduate students and kenaf breeding after their back to China, and planned to implement the concret cooperation in a near future.
