From December 9th to 12th, Mr. Yan Jinjing, Chair of Council of FAFU, was invited to visit The University of Tokyo, Tokyo University of Agriculture, Konkuk University (South Korea) and so on. The visit aims to promote exchanges and cooperation between FAFU and the world-renowned universities and yield substantial results.

On December 9th, Mr. Yan visited The University of Tokyo and met with its executive vice president Fukuda Hiroo and vice president Naoto Sekimura. The panel discussion was attended by Takano Tetsuo (Director of ANESC, Asian Natural Environmental Science Center), Izawa Takeshi (Dean of Agriculture and Environmental Biology of ANESC) et al. Mr. Yan Jinjing expressed his gratitude for Mr. Fukuda Hiroo’s visit to FAFU in March, 2019. He pointed out that The University of Tokyo, as a well-known world-class research-oriented university, is playing a leading role in many fields of teaching and research; while FAFU is located in Fujian province in the southeast coast of China, which is the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road, boasting No. 1 forest coverage rate in China, excellent geographical and environmental advantages. The two schools enjoy promising prospects for cooperation in forestry, food science, zoological science and plant science. He hopes to further promote the cooperative relationship between the two universities.
Mr. Fukuda Hiroo extended a warm welcome to Mr. Yan Jinjing and his delegation. He recalled that as early as in 2008, the two universities have carried out academic exchanges at different levels. With two universities starting a new chapter of cooperation this year, he hopes to strengthen exchanges of students and teachers, joint-supervision academic and research collaboration, etc., through the Sakura Science Program proposed by Japan Science and Technology Agency and the programs launched by China Scholarship Council (CSC) for the advance of cooperation and exchanges of youths between two countries.
During the visit, Mr. Yan and his delegation also visited some scientific research and teaching institutions of The Tokyo of Universities, such as Asian Natural Environmental Science Center, Institute for Sustainable Agro-ecosystem Services affiliated to Graduate School of Life Sciences, Laboratory of Forest and Symbiology. Mr. Yan and his delegation also had an in-depth discussion with Mr. Takano Tetsuo about the progress of previous academic exchanges and results as well as the prospects of cooperation. Mr. Yan also met with some international students of FAFU.

On December 10th, Mr. Yan met with Mr. Takano Katsumi, president of Tokyo University of Agriculture. Both sides introduced the latest development of the university. Moreover, with the common international development strategies of both universities, a consensus was reached that they would establish bilateral cooperation and support closer academic exchanges for a win-win scenario. Both sides discussed scientific research cooperation and exchanges of students and teachers and exchanged views on signing international cooperation agreement. During the visit, Mr. Yan also met with Sato Takayoshi (Dean of Department of Forest Science at faculty of Regional Environment Science) and discussed the development and scientific research cooperation in the field of forestry before visiting Laboratories of Food and Bioscience, Food and Agriculture Museum and so on.

On December 12th, during Mr. Yan’s visit at Konkuk University, he held a discussion with Yoongho Lim, the executive vice president of Konkuk University, and met with the director of the international department. Mr. Yan also visited Cell Signaling Laboratory and some research institutes of the university. Both sides agreed that the favorable environment of the 20th anniversary of the trilateral cooperation among China, Japan and South Korea should be made full use of so as to promote the exchanges of students, teachers and scientific and research cooperation and the signing of Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between two universities. They also hoped to foster cooperation in joint supervision program and exchange program in core disciplines such as veterinary sciences.
The delegation included faculty members from College of Animal Science, College of Food Science, College of Forestry, Office of International Cooperation and Exchange.
